Description
Capamoxil: Each 5 mL contains: Amoxicillin Trihydrate equivalent to Amoxicillin 125 mg.
Capamoxil Forte: Each 5 mL contains: Amoxicillin Trihydrate equivalent to Amoxicillin 250 mg.
Action
Pharmacology: Amoxicillin is a semisynthetic penicillin derivative and stable in gastric acid environment.
Amoxicillin is rapidly and well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, irrespective of the presence of food. Amoxicillin is mainly excreted unchanged in the urine. Excretion is inhibited while simultaneously presenting with Probenecid, resulting in a therapeutic effect.
Amoxicillin is active against gram-positive and gram-negative organisms.
Indications/Uses
Infections caused by sensitive strains of bacteria.
Skin and soft tissue infections: Staphylococcus not producing penicillinase, Streptococcus, E. coli.
Respiratory tract infections: H. influenzae, Streptococcus, Strep. pneumoniae, Staphylococcus non-penicillinase producers, E. coli.
Genitourinary tract infections: E.coli, P. mirabilis and Strep. faecalis.
Gonorrhoeae: Neisseria gonorrhoeae (not a penicillinase producer).
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adults and children with body weight of > 20 kg: 250-500 mg every 8 hours.
Children with body weight of < 20 kg: 20-40 mg/kg body weight daily in doses every 8 hours.
For patients with kidney problems, it is necessary to reduce the dose. In patients receiving peritoneal dialysis, the maximum dose recommended is 500 mg/day.
Gonococcus urethritis: Amoxicillin 3 g as a single dose.
Children over 8 kg should be given a dry syrup preparation.
Direction for Suspension: Dry Syrup, for volume 60 mL. Pour drinking water until slightly below mark. Close bottle tightly. Hold bottle upside-down and shake well until all granules are dispersed. Add sufficient drinking water up to mark (60 mL) and shake well. After reconstitution with drinking water, the suspension must be used within 7 days.
Store between 2° and 8°C, away from light.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to beta-lactam antibiotics e.g. penicillins, cephalosporins.
Special Precautions
Be careful when administering this drug to people with lymphatic leukemia, because of the sensitivity to skin rash caused Ampicillin.
May cause severe colitis.
Before treatment with Amoxicillin, a sensitivity reaction to penicillin should be examined.
Amoxicillin should be used with caution in pregnant and lactating women.
Long-term treatment with Amoxicillin must be accompanied by a check on kidney, liver and blood function.
May cause super infection (usually the cause Enterobacterium, Pseudomonas, S. aureus, Candida). When things happen stop the treatment and are given another alternative.
For patients with kidney failure, plasma and urine levels are monitored. Dosage adjustments were made.
Do not treat for meningitis or infection of the joints because oral Amoxicillin does not penetrate into the cerebrospinal fluid or synovial.
Use In Pregnancy & Lactation
Amoxicillin should be used with caution in pregnant and lactating women.
Adverse Reactions
Sensitization reactions e.g erythematous maculopapular rashes, urticaria, skin rashes, serum sickness.
Sensitivity reactions are serious and fatal is anaphylaxis mainly occur in patients who are hypersensitive to penicillin.
Digestive tract disorders such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.
Haematological reactions (usually reversible).
Drug Interactions
Probenecid can increase and extend the blood levels of Amoxicillin.
Concomitant use of Allopurinol can cause an increase in the occurrence of skin reactions.

Store dry powder below 30°C, away from light.
